Disability Awareness Conference at St. Mark
You are invited to our
First Disability Awareness Conference.
At this conference, we will identify the special needs of our parishioners, either physical and/or emotional, that may act as barriers to full participation in worship services. You may have a child or adult with a disability. You may have a disability yourself due to a medical condition or the aging process. You may be just interested in this ministry as part of your advocacy for the Respect for Life issue. Everyone is invited!
Our guest speaker, Jessica Cox, is an international advocate and speaker on behalf of persons with disabilities. She will inspire you with her life story.
You will also hear from a parent who will discuss the blessings and challenges that are part of raising a child with a disability. The evening will conclude with Mass celebrated by Most Reverend Bishop Emeritus Gerald F. Kicanas.
You will learn about Blessed Margaret of Castello, the patron of people with disabilities, who was a little person and blind.

Are you going?
might be going.
Jessica Cox travels throughout the world inspiring people with her story. Raised in Sierra Vista, Arizona and born without arms, Jessica's story of the challenges and gifts of our disabilities will, I think, open eyes to the importance of other abled persons in our community. Jessica drives with her feet, flies her own airplane and presented Pope Benedict XVI with the medal commemorating her Guinness World Record.
